Botox® is a quick and easy injectable treatment that can effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles without surgery, and the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment every year. It works by limiting muscle movement in areas of the face that wrinkle or fold with expressions like smiling or squinting, using a tiny amount of botulinum toxin that blocks the nerve signals activating those muscles. The result is relaxed wrinkles and a rejuvenated, refreshed look.

The cost of Botox® is based on the number of units needed to achieve your desired results, which depends on the treatment area(s), the strength of the muscle being treated and your unique anatomy. Most clients begin seeing Botox® results within 5 to 10 days, with full effects at the 2-week mark. Botox® typically lasts 3–4 months, and most patients at CARE schedule treatments every 3 to 3.5 months to maintain smooth, natural-looking results. Over time, your facial muscles may become trained to relax, which can extend the time between treatments.

Common side effects may include temporary headaches, minor swelling or bleeding at the injection site, and/or bruising. These are often minor and typically resolve quickly. We encourage patients to avoid blood-thinning agents, such as NSAIDs, fish oil or alcohol, for at least 24 hours before treatment to minimize bleeding or bruising.

Botox® is not recommended for those who are pregnant or nursing.

You should be able to resume your normal activities right after Botox®, other than a few possible marks at the injection sites that generally resolve within a few hours. Avoid lying down flat, bending over and touching or massaging the treated areas for at least 4 to 6 hours, and avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

Radiesse® is an FDA-approved dermal filler made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a smooth gel. It adds volume where it is placed right away, and over time it stimulates your body’s natural collagen production for results that continue to look natural.

Your injector may recommend Radiesse® to smooth deeper lines and folds such as the nasolabial folds, or to help define the jawline and restore lost volume.

Dermal fillers are well-known for their ability to effectively treat or augment areas causing a variety of cosmetic concerns, including but not limited to:

Fillers give immediate results, but depending on the area treated they can take 4–8 weeks to fully integrate with the surrounding tissues and settle. We encourage patients to return for a follow-up appointment about 6–8 weeks after their initial injection to assess the final outcome.

On average, most Juvéderm® fillers last about 12 months, and some can last up to 24 months. Results from Radiesse® are visible right away and, for many patients, last a year or more. We recommend touch-ups for the best maintenance.

Typical side effects are mild and temporary, and can include:

• Bleeding and/or bruising at the injection site
• Redness
• Swelling
• Lumpiness
• Mild soreness

We recommend avoiding alcohol and other blood-thinning agents, such as certain supplements and NSAIDs, before your appointment to minimize bruising and swelling.

Juvéderm® fillers contain lidocaine, which helps numb the area during the injection, and patients can opt for topical numbing before treating sensitive areas such as the lips. With these measures, injection discomfort is greatly reduced.
